Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing and refining the Food Safety and Quality Assurance program for food processing facilities, distribution hubs, and affiliated suppliers.  Taking leadership to manage all functions related to food safety compliance and company standards across all associated manufacturing, distribution, and supply chain channels. Serve as the subject matter expert for local, state, and federal food safety legislation as well as GSFI and GSSI standards.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Responsible for reviewing and ensuring effective implementation of monitoring programs related to affiliated food manufactures, distribution centers and suppliers.
    • Applies, monitors and designs qualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental monitoring, finished product, and ingredients in accordance with company’s specifications.
    • Establishes and implements procedures for food safety in the areas of production, warehouse, packaging, labeling, recipes, maintenance, and hygiene/sanitation as required and/or recommended by FDA, HACCP, GMP, and state regulations.
    • Directs the training needs of facilities’ personnel specific to GMPs, GDPs, HACCP, and SQF programs
    • Management of approved supplier vendor and ingredients program, regulatory, 3rd party audits, labeling program, pre/post inspection, consumer claims, verification, and validation programs
    • Investigates matter or deviations and develop solutions for continuous improvement
    • Lead as primary SQF Practitioner for company-owned distribution and food processing facilities
    • Audit training and vendor compliance programs/facilities, third-party logistics, product ingredients, and internal warehouse and manufacturing facilities.
    • Review reports regarding regular inspections, violations, customer and consumer claims, and corrective actions to resolve deficiencies; ensure appropriate actions are taken on a timely basis and provide guidance for correction of deficiencies.
    • Maintains documentation as required to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
    • Conducts required meetings and trainings with employees and management to ensure all parties are properly informed on all information related to food safety and quality assurance.
    • Serves as part of the food safety decision making operative and makes decisions related to food safety
    • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
    • Manage, coach and develop subordinates to achieve FSQA goals, objectives, and KPI’s.
    • Oversight and continued development of GSSI programs
    • Coordinates with Human Resources and FSQA Department Manager to ensure staffing is adequate and policies and procedures are followed.
    • Responsible for maintaining and reporting accurate records for employee attendance, payroll and production performance on a timely basis.
    • Consistently provides guidance and establishes expectations of direct reports

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Food Science, Chemistry or related field
    • 3+ years experience in a Manager or Director capacity
    • Experience in an SQF facility or scheme recognized under GFSI
    • Knowledge of Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) schemes is preferred
    • Strong leadership with history of staff development and oversight
    • Required certifications include Seafood HACCP and SQF Practitioner
    • Additional preferred certifications include PCQI, FSVP, internal auditing, Advanced SQF Practitioner
    • Working to proficient knowledge of 21CFR117, 21CFR123, 21CFR114, 21CFR113

Salary range: $81,000 -$93,000 (annual)
